Schooling of Kids is not enough–
It should always be kept in mind that school is not the only medium of education for children. The child learns and imbibes every moment. On an average, a child spends less than 10 percent of the time in school throughout the year. There are a total of eighty-seven hundred and sixty hours in a year, that is, about nine and a half thousand. Out of these maximum eight and a half or nine hundred hours the child spends in the school throughout the year. He spends less than the remaining eight thousand hours at home. School is not a magical place where the pressure of values on the children is so intense that the values that are ten times longer than that fade away in front of that pressure. Therefore, it is clear that the influence of the home-family and neighborhood environment and training is more than the influence of the school in the formation of children’s values. That’s why one should not be sure by sending the child to school, rather one should remember his responsibility of building culture at that time also.
Psychologist Benjamin Bloom states that by the age of four, the child has developed intellectually so much that he possesses half the intellectual capacity of an adult. In the next four years i.e. till the age of eight years, thirty percent of the child’s intelligence gets developed and only twenty percent remains to be done in the next years. From this point of view also, the family environment plays a major role in developing good habits in children.
It should not be forgotten here that the tendency of imitation prevails in children. In their training, direct conduct and example play a major role, not preaching. Children have unlimited power. Enthusiasm keeps on rising within him every moment. correct it | Planning in the direction is to make them cultured, but this planning is possible only by the behavior of the parents themselves, not by mere preaching.
To make children cultured, the first requirement is to keep the atmosphere of the house pleasant, calm and cheerful. The minimum needs of children must be met as far as possible.
Understanding the child’s ability and interest, inclination of tendencies, he should be given special encouragement in that direction. Also, they should be given opportunities to do small tasks. They should be assigned such tasks which they can do easily. Put on your own clothes, dry them, remove them, put them in a certain place. They should be encouraged for such efforts and praised if they do so successfully; So that they develop self-confidence.
Children are hardworking and hardworking by nature. All they need is proper guidance. They should not be scolded for small mistakes. Big punishments should not be given. Also, they should not be given negative instructions, they should be given predicative indications. Instead of saying ‘don’t do this’, ‘don’t do that’, ‘do this’ should be said in this way. They should neither be given undue pampering, nor should they be intimidated or threatened in every way.
Children learn the practice of balance, simplicity and elegance from their parents. They should neither be allowed to become unruly, nor submissive. Neither their body should be neglected, nor should it be made in such a way that they cannot tolerate even a little bit of cold and heat. There is no need to load them heavily with clothes in normal winters and not to let them go out as soon as a few days climb in summer. Similarly, it is unfair to forcefully feed a child even without hunger. This will make him smart as well as sick.
The curiosities of the child’s mind should never be neglected. For them everything in the world is new and attractive. Every moment questions arise within him. Answers to their questions must be given in an easy-to-understand style. They should not be scolded or interrupted. Only after solving the curiosity of the child, his intellectual development can be done properly.
Do not consider yourself free from the complete responsibility of personality development of children just because you have started sending your child to school. The situation is just the opposite. Professor Darken, leader of a study team of American child-education experts, pointed out that the same children make satisfactory progress in school whose parents give them enough time at home. Parents busy with themselves are primarily responsible for the backwardness of their child.
Therefore, parents should not forget the duty of educating the child. They have the main responsibility of making the foundation of the children’s good habits firm.
