Style and Decor

Light Requirements: The ZZ plant is known to adapt to all kinds of environments, and although it loves bright indirect light like all plants it thrives well in low-light areas too. Remember to keep your ZZ plant away from direct sunlight.
Locations: Zamias can grow well in medium to low indirect light but not in constant shade/darkness. Place your ZZ plant in your living room or in your office premises where it gets a sufficient amount of light or shuffles its placement every other week.
Styling/decor tip: Such is the beauty and appearance of the plant that it is oft mistaken for an artificial one. The beautiful waxy leaves of the ZZ plant reflect sunlight and instantly brighten any room they are kept in. Place it on the side table or your office desk to break the monotony and add a pop of green to your interior.

Plants growing in containers need more fertilizing than those in the ground. The more you water, the more quickly you flush the nutrients out of the soil.

Plant Essentials

Fertilizer/ feed for the plant: The ZZ plant does not need much looking after other than a monthly feed during its main growing period from August to April.
Repotting: Your ZZ will outgrow its current pot in a year and would require repotting in a one-size larger pot.
Propagation: ZZ plants can be easily propagated through leaf cuttings or by dividing the root rhizome. However, propagation by rhizome division cannot be done often as the new rhizomes grow back very slowly.

Common Problems

1. Why are my ZZ plant leaves turning brown?
Browning leaves are a classic sign of under-watering. Water your plant more frequently to solve this issue.
2. Leaves of my ZZ plant are curling
The curling of leaves of the ZZ plant is an indication of too much light. Move your plant away from direct sunlight.
3. ZZ plant is drooping
The ZZ plant starts dropping as a result of root rot which is caused by overwatering
